Pet Pals

Are you finding it difficult to maintain your pet’s needs?

To ensure that you continue enjoying the benefits of pet companionship, Council’s Pet Pals program can assist with some of those tasks that are becoming a challenge. You will be matched with a suitable volunteer Pet Pal who can assist with tasks such as dog walking, exercising and brushing, or transporting you and your furry (or feathered) friend to vet or grooming appointments.

PERMA is an 8 week resilience building course that teaches you to bounce back from setbacks and embrace the future in a more positive way. Learn how to capitalise on your strengths, build resilience in all areas of your life, build positive relationships, improve your confidence and learn strategies for problem solving. This course is aimed at over 60s. Bookings essential.

Day Trips - Eligibility Applies

We have Day Trips scheduled throughout the year giving you the opportunity to get out and socialise with other residents in your community.

On The Move - Eligibility Applies

Enjoy the ease of being picked up from your home with our On The Move outings, taking you to places of interest in small groups.

Our popular 6-week lifestyle programs H.I.M (Health, Information & Motivation) and WiseMove for Women enhance your wellbeing and help promote a happy and healthy life.

Heart Foundation Walking Groups
Enjoy a weekly walk in the local area and make friends with like minded people. Finish the walk with a cuppa and chat. There are a number of walking groups in and around Holdfast Bay catering for all fitness levels.


LifeLinks is an interactive and empowering program for residents in a pension only Supported Residential Facility within the Southern Metropolitan region.

We aim to address barriers that can occur due to disability, mental health, poverty, reduced social supports and limited independent living skills.

The LifeLinks program is run by the City of Holdfast Bay and the Cities of Mitcham and Marion. Lifelinks currently supports residents at the following facilities:

Kingswood Hostel – Ocean Grove – Glenelg Supportive Care – Oaks on Sussex – Oaks on Byron
